Treerings
Throughout Western Australia the need to improve our soils, feed our plants, mulch to conserve moisture and reduce surface run-off is an ongoing concern. Regularly, this requires bags of products from your local nursery, garden center or hardware store along with some exercise and a good workout.
A relative of mine had a favorite saying: always keep it simple stupid or the Kiss technique. Often when gardening at home or for work, we try and complicate things when simply making it easier would be a much better proposition.
Improve our Soils
Now there is a simple product that that can do all this for you in one handy and easy-to-use form, Treerings. These unique rings provide precision flowering placement, to enhance the healthy growth, flowering and fruiting in plants.
Treerings was started in the backyard of the ingenious Garry Eglinton several years ago. Garry meticulously trialed, tested and experimented with many different combinations, products and manufacturing processes until he got the product just right and how it is today.
The small family-owned business first started selling Treerings at local community markets. The public response and resultant high demand prompted the automation of the Treering-making process, and they leased a commercial property in Hazelmere.
Each Treering is made up of locally sourced re-purposed materials including horse manure, recycled paper and added nutrients including trace elements. Each environmentally sustainable Treering will improve the soil, help to retain moisture and save on watering.
The custom blend of nutrients contains an NPK ratio of 12:2:10 with added trace elements to promote vigorous growth (improve our soils) in all plants, trees and shrubs. As the Treering slowly breaks down over 12 months, it also provides a cooling mulch to
the soil surface that retains moisture following watering and irrigation, slowly releasing it back to the plant along with the slow-release nutrients.
This reduces the amount of time and effort required to fertilise plants and trees particularly in large scale commercial and rehabilitation projects. For the home gardener it means that by placing a Treering around your plants you
will only need to fertilise your garden once per year.
These lightweight, safe and pet-friendly compact rings are ideal for all new plantings, sustaining plants, trees and
shrubs. Plus, as a bonus they don’t smell like most conventional manures and soil conditioners. These versatile Treerings are suitable for use in the home garden, parks and public gardens, commercial crops including fruit and vegetables, tree plantings, roadside and verge plantings, and mine site rehabilitation.
Treerings Sizes
There are three Treering sizes – small, regular and large. The different sizes make it easy to cater for all sizes of plants, new plantings, tube stock or established trees. Treerings were also awarded Gold Winner in the Product Design category at the Australian Good Design Awards in 2022. These awards are the highest honour for design and innovation in the country.
So, next time you need to look after your plants and garden, improve your soils with Treerings.
