Rethinking Urban Spaces
A New Community Hub in the Heart of Wanneroo
Small changes can make a big difference to the way we experience our public spaces.
That was the idea behind the new Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Pop-up Space, an initiative brought to life by The Forever Project in collaboration with the City of Wanneroo.
Designed to explore how underutilised urban spaces can be reimagined, the pop-up has created an inviting outdoor area where people can relax, connect with one another and enjoy their surroundings in the heart of the Wanneroo Town Centre.
StrataGreen was proud to support The Forever Project with an extensive range of RhinoWeld Gabions, along with Formline landscape products, helping bring the outdoor seating area to life.
Bringing New Life to Wanneroo Town Centre
Public spaces play an important role in creating connected, welcoming communities.
The Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Pop-up Space explores how thoughtful design and relatively small changes to an existing urban environment can create new opportunities for people to gather, interact and enjoy their local surroundings.
Located outside the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre, the pop-up introduces an outdoor space designed to encourage visitors to pause, take a seat and connect with the community around them.
Rather than simply moving through the town centre, visitors now have another reason to stop and spend time in the area.
It's an example of how practical, considered landscape design can contribute to more engaging and people-friendly public spaces.
RhinoWeld & Formline: Helping Shape the Space
StrataGreen was pleased to sponsor The Forever Project by supplying an extensive range of RhinoWeld welded mesh gabions for the pop-up, alongside Formline products.
RhinoWeld was incorporated into the outdoor seating area, demonstrating how gabions can be used beyond traditional retaining walls to create functional and attractive features within urban landscapes.
With their distinctive welded mesh construction and ability to incorporate natural stone, gabions offer landscape designers a versatile solution for seating, garden features and defining outdoor spaces.
The project also featured Formline, complementing the landscape design and contributing to the overall presentation of the pop-up.
For StrataGreen, it's always rewarding to see products used in creative ways that go beyond their traditional applications, particularly when they help create spaces that can be enjoyed by the wider community.
Celebrating the Launch with the Community
The pop-up space officially launched on Friday 5 June 2026, with activities continuing into Saturday 6 June.
To celebrate, The Forever Project and the City of Wanneroo invited the community to explore the new space and participate in a variety of free workshops.
As part of the launch, The Forever Project hosted a workshop titled Rethinking Urban Spaces on Friday 5 June at 11am, encouraging participants to consider how small changes to our built environments can influence the way we experience and interact with public spaces.
The launch provided an opportunity to introduce the new space to the community while opening up conversations about the future of our urban environments.
About The Forever Project
The Forever Project is dedicated to sustainability education and encouraging more resilient, environmentally responsible communities.
Through practical demonstrations, workshops and collaborative projects, The Forever Project helps people explore how thoughtful choices around landscaping, urban design and the environment can create positive change.
Projects such as the Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Pop-up Space bring these ideas into everyday settings, demonstrating how existing areas can be reimagined to encourage community connection and more engaging outdoor experiences.
StrataGreen is proud to continue supporting The Forever Project, supplying products that help bring their projects and sustainability initiatives to life across Western Australia.
Small Changes, Lasting Community Benefits
The Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Pop-up Space is a reminder that creating more welcoming urban environments doesn't always require large-scale redevelopment.
Sometimes, introducing seating, incorporating landscape features and giving people a reason to spend time in a space can help change the way that area is experienced.
We're proud to have supported The Forever Project and the City of Wanneroo in bringing this initiative to life, and to see RhinoWeld and Formline contributing to another community-focused project in Western Australia.
