The StrataGreen Chemical Application and Spraying Course is nationally recognised training and our trainers are qualified to issue the certification required for the Basic Weed Control endorsement on a Pesticide Technician License. This license and endorsement is required by law if you charge a fee to apply chemicals around Lawn and Garden, Landscaping and Bushland/Minesite Rehabilitation. This two-day course will give you a sound understanding of the legislation and an introduction to the physical, environmental and occupational health hazards of all aspects of chemical spraying.

On the Day
Where: StrataGreen - 5 Barrel Way Canning Vale WA 6155
Arrival Time: 7:45am on both days. The training starts at 8am. Finish time is approximately
3:30pm on both days.
Dress Code: is casual attire with closed shoes. PPE will be supplied if required.
What to bring: Positive minds and happy vibes! Everything you need to complete this course is supplied on arrival.
Food: Morning Tea and Lunch is provided. Fruit and tea/coffee/drinks are available throughout the day.
Parking: Please enter the first gate of 5 Barrel Way Canning Vale and park in any available bay except the two bays nearest the building entrance. There will be an email sent to attendees the day prior to the course with further details and an image of where to park.
The Trainers:
Greg McConkey, originally Empower Education, has been training since 1999. The prime focus has been to deliver environmental health training into regional and remote Aboriginal communities but now Greg resides in Perth and provides accredited chemical application training for landscape maintenance business’, revegetation organisations and weed control operations.
Nathanael joined the team in November 2024 as a Qualified Assessor delivering training in Basic Weed Control Units. With a background in First Aid instruction and Workplace Safety consulting, he brings a practical, safety-first approach to all his sessions. Outside of training, Nathanael balances a busy schedule with a young family at home.
StrataGreen: Has been operating as a host for Greg since March 2023 to conduct the courses for the Basic Weed Control Units. In December 2023, the RTO (6813) ownership was transferred to StrataGreen opening up a world of opportunities to the educational aspect of the landscaping maintenance industry.

- Basic equipment types-compression, backpack (electric spray and manual units)

- You (the attendee) will be required to enter your USI. If you don’t have a USI, please register here - https://www.usi.gov.au/
- You will be required to enter your full name, mobile number and date of birth that relates to your USI. It is imperative that this information is correct. A certificate from this course cannot be issued if your USI cannot be verified.
- This course is a one-off training to obtain the certificate. Licensing and registration of the business will require ongoing fees with the Health Department independent of this course.
- You must attend 100% of this course and satisfactorily complete all the assessment tasks to receive your certificate. If you require support to complete the learning or assessment tasks either because of a literacy issue, a learning difficulty or a physical disability, please let us know before booking as we may be able to adjust our learning and assessment processes to suit. Customised training costs will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
