Ultragrate Tree Grate

The Ultragrate Tree Grate is a practical solution for urban environments such as footpaths, malls, and public spaces, where trees are planted in areas exposed to constant pedestrian and light wheeled traffic.

Designed to create a stable, trafficable surface around the tree, the Ultragrate allows for natural trunk growth while enabling air and water penetration to the root zone, supporting long-term tree health.

A key advantage of the Ultragrate system is its split design, allowing it to be easily installed around existing trees. The grate can be opened, positioned around the trunk, and securely rejoined—making it ideal for both new installations and retrofit applications.

For secure installation, the Ultragrate is designed to be fixed to a galvanised angle frame (sold separately), which is typically set in concrete. This ensures a stable and long-lasting base capable of handling regular pedestrian traffic.

In many installations, tree guards or stakes are used initially, then removed once the tree is established, leaving the Ultragrate to provide ongoing surface protection.
