Geotextile fabric

Geotextile fabrics are permeable fabrics used to provide safe and reliable soil migration, filtration, separation & reinforcement. When soil is exposed, it's at risk of erosion from rainwater, runoff and wind. Geotextiles are made from non-woven or woven materials that can transmit water and are made in two different ways: staple fibre - short fibres interlocked together, usually through a needling process, or continuous filament (long continuous strands of synthetic threads).

Separation engineers and civil contractors frequently use geotextiles in construction projects such as the construction of roads and embankments.

Geotextile fabric is used to maintain the structural integrity of natural soil, protect the surrounding content and help to prevent erosion, especially in highly erosive areas. Geotextiles are permeable fabrics and have the ability to provide filtration, separation of two layers & reinforcement of soils. A Geotextile fabric is highly porous, allowing water to drain and pass through the material but acts as a barrier to trap debris in the soil.

The geotextile fabric is manufactured from high-quality non-woven materials, i.e. polypropylene, spun-bonded polyolefin and other synthetic threads in roll or sheet form, depending on the application. Imported raw materials are blended with locally available resources to produce a wide range of geotextiles. Geotextile fabric products are used to separate, reinforce and filter particles in various mixed ratio combinations.

GeoTek™ geotextiles are ideal for drainage applications and engineering applications where strength, durability, and long-term performance are required. They're flexible and tear-resistant, making them well-suited to be formed into various shapes to suit your project's needs.

The non-woven polyester material is highly resistant to installation damage and has high water permeability, so it can be installed in areas where soil or silt is present. GeoTek™ geotextiles are also naturally UV resistant, meaning they won't fade in direct sunlight. Because GeoTek™ geotextiles are manufactured from continuous polyester filaments, they are highly resistant to commonly encountered soil chemicals, mildew, insects, and acid or alkaline environments.

The GeoTek™ range of needle-punched non-woven geotextiles are manufactured from 100% Polyester continuous filaments. They are characterised by a high resistance to installation damage, high water permeability and are naturally UV resistant, giving them a long life span.

GeoTek™ Geotextiles are highly resistant to commonly encountered soil chemicals, mildew, insects, and acid or alkaline environments. GeoTek™ is non bio-degradable and is available in a range of grades depending on the particular engineering application required.

GeoTek™ geotextiles are manufactured to the highest international standards and have ISO9001:2008 accreditation. As a result you can rest assured that, when you use GeoTek™ geotextiles for your construction project, you will receive the same top quality from the first to last metre on the roll.

The good tensile mechanical properties of GeoTek™ geotextiles in conjunction with the soil's good comprehensive but poor tensile properties improve the total system's strength interaction. The high strength and low elongation of the geotextiles are ideal for reinforcing embarkments of road or rail structure, slopes and retaining walls.

The placement of GeoTek™ flexible and highly porous nonwoven geotextiles between dissimilar earth materials allows for the integrity and functioning of both materials so that they can be improved or remain intact.

Lighter grades of drainage geotextiles are permeable and provide better drainage properties, especially when used as part of subsoil drainage systems.

The equilibrium between the soil-to-GeoTek™ geotextile system allows for adequate liquid flow while maintaining limited soil loss within the plane of the geotextile. The hydraulic properties of the geotextile are suitable to establish structural stability by controlling excess amount of water during and after construction and are more cost effective than natural filters such as sand or aggregate.

Working as a filtration layer, GeoTek™ geotextiles provide greater filtration properties and soil retention, working in equilibrium with the soil to allow for adequate liquid flow while preventing soil migration and moisture loss across the plane of the geotextile while avoiding pore clogging.

GeoTek™ heavyweight nonwoven geotextiles offer perfect damage protection to geomembranes and other coated materials used in tailings dams, ponds, landfills and more that may occur from contact with sharp soil surfaces such as stones or sub grade unevenness. Geotextiles extend the life of the lining system by protecting it from excessive deformation and punctures caused by sharp objects.

The geotextiles' thickness and mass are directly proportional to the amount of protection that they can offer.

GeoTek™ non-woven geotextiles prevents mixing of landscape materials and can be utilised for erosion control of slopes and river bank flood control.

FilterMaxx Geotextile protects one stratum from damage by another. It stabilises soft soil while retaining porosity for water to flow. FilterMaxx geotextile is supplied on a handy 2m x 50m roll for easy onsite application. With its small roll size, it is generally used for subsoil drainage and separation by preventing the intermixing of aggregates and soils in smaller applications. Common applications include – rooftop gardens, planter box paving & garden paths.

Geotextile fabrics are an affordable product with low long term maintenance costs, providing effective filtration and reinforcement of soil when used in drainage applications and reinforcement applications, such as the construction of an embankment on soft soils.
