WHAT ARE GEOSYNTHETICS?

Geosynthetics are man-made polymeric (plastic) products, designed to deliver different functions, such as separation, filtration, geosynthetic reinforcement, containment of liquids, protection from chemical attack, erosion control and more.

Geosynthetics have several benefits and are known for their durability and ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Geosynthetics can be applied to a wide range of geotechnical applications, such as retaining walls, drainage systems, protecting the top layer of soil, lining dams and floating covers and more. Recent advancements in geosynthetics have even seen them used in asphalt reinforcement, increasing the service life of asphalt roads. Geosynthetics can be combined with other synthetic materials, such as deformed plastic sheets or steel cables.

EXAMPLE OF GEOSYNTHETIC PRODUCTS

There are a variety of geosynthetic products, including but not limited to:

  • Geotextiles: The largest group of geosynthetics and one of the earliest types created, geotextiles are permeable fabrics that are made up of synthetic fibres (such as polyester or polypropylene) and are usually created as either woven, knitted or non-woven textiles.
  • Geogrids - A comprehensive geosynthetic, geogrids consist of a network of polymeric ribs which are usually linked by extrusion, bonding or interlacing. Stretching the polymeric material during the manufacturing process increases the strength and stiffness of the ribs.
  • Geonets - Made from the continuous extrusion of polymeric ribs collected together, set at 90 degrees to each other. Mainly used for drainage applications, the ribs form a net-like configuration when opened.
  • Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCL) - Built using two sheets or two layers of non-woven geotextile, with a thin layer of bentonite clay between them, that are bonded together (either through stitching or needle punching), these liners are perfect for containment applications due to their low permeability and high internal shear strength.
  • Geocomposite drain - A geocomposite consists of a combination of geosynthetic products, such as geotextiles, geogrids and geonets, commonly used to prevent soil from entering a drainage system.

GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINERS

One of our key offerings is our geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) range.

Geosynthetic clay liners are commonly used and highly effective in providing a fluid or gas containment barrier in containment applications, retaining walls and other containment facilities by acting as a relatively impermeable barrier for fluids and gases.

GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINER BENEFITS

With unmatched durability and flexibility, these versatile geosynthetic clay liners combine the properties of natural and synthetic materials to offer superior performance in water and waste containment. A geosynthetic clay liner is designed to handle excess pore pressure, retain liquid flow, and ensure the structural integrity of containment facilities.

GEOSYNTHETIC POLYMERIC MATERIALS

To address the challenges posed by steep soil slopes or to improve the mechanical properties of a soil mass, we offer flexible geosynthetic material & polymeric material that stabilizes the soil and will prevent soil loss by retaining soil particles.

Our solutions, including woven and nonwoven geotextiles, erosion control mats, geocomposite drains, deformed plastic sheets, high density polyethylene (HDPE) Polydrain pipe, plastic drainage core geocomposites, geotextile filter options and geosynthetic clay liners cell walls are engineered to withstand heavy surface loadings while allowing for adequate liquid flow in retaining wall drainage, drain systems and drainage applications, such as outdoor stormwater and surface water removal needs.

Civil Engineering

Our geosynthetic materials are widely used in the civil engineering profession for a wide range of projects, providing long-lasting long term solutions for soil stabilization, earth retention, slope protection and the construction of retained earth walls and steep slopes.

To address the challenges posed by steep soil slopes or to improve the mechanical properties of a soil mass, we offer flexible geosynthetic material & polymeric material that stabilises the soil and will prevent soil loss by retaining soil particles.

WIDE RANGE OF GEOSYNTHETICS

With the help of our expertise and wide range of geosynthetics, you can effectively manage drainage systems, separate natural materials & dissimilar materials, improve filtration, stabilise terrain, prevent contamination of groundwater, reduces leakage, reinforce soft soils or soft foundations, allow water (and other liquids) to pass through less permeable soils and optimize wall drainage to maximise the service lifetime of your infrastructure.

Compatibility and Sustainability

We understand the importance of compatibility and sustainability in construction and engineering.

That's why our geosynthetic products, including high-density polyethylene pipes and highway underdrain systems, are designed to be environmentally friendly, reduce carbon emissions and withstand the engineering functions required for efficient water management. Additionally, our synthetic material, permeable fabrics and mechanically stabilized solutions ensure that the soil types and soft ground are effectively protected, providing the necessary pore pressure control and channel protection.

At StrataGreen, we prioritize the needs of our customers in private development engineering, mining operations and other construction projects.

NON WOVEN GEOSYNTHETICS

Our products, such as prefabricated vertical drains and non woven geotextiles, are engineered to remain intact in deep foundations and flexible forms, delivering exceptional waste containment and soil stabilization. With our extensive range of standard weaving machinery and knitting machinery, we provide reliable solutions for engineered geosynthetic applications, ensuring the desired liquid flow and drainage function that effectively manages runoff and prevents flooding.
